Established in 1919 by Syunchi Nakata, Platinum Pen Co. is renowned as a manufacturer of fine fountain pens, but is relatively unknown in the West. Platinum is closely related to the legendary Nakaya fountain pen brand, where some of the finest fountain pens in the world are created. This expertise also goes into Platinum's own line of fine writing instruments, and there are few pens with the nib quality to match the Platinum #3776 for example. Platinum now manufactures a huge range of writing instruments from maki-e fountain pens to hi-tech pencils, rollerballs and ballpoints.
